About Us

For nearly thirty years, Massachusetts MENTOR has been serving children and adults through our therapeutic foster care program for children with emotional and behavioral issues due to abuse and/or neglect; and host home program for children and adults with developmental disabilities.  In addition to these residential programs, we offer an array of supports and services including supported living, transitional programming, post-program care and more.

Our service approach is based on an innovative model where individuals live in homes with specially trained caregivers called Mentors. Mentors work in partnership with program staff, family members, and others to help each individual reach their goals and enable them to live full lives within their communities.   The key to successful programming is the relationship that forms between the Mentor and the individual in his or her home a relationship of  advocacy and support, caring and supervision.   Massachusetts MENTOR staff support and strengthen this relationship through comprehensive services including screening, matching, skill development, and program oversight, enabling us to provide the best care possible to the individual served.

A Community of Caring:  A Network of Quality

As a part of The MENTOR Network, a national network of local human service providers, Massachusetts MENTOR provides those who work with us and those we serve the benefits of a strong national structure coupled with the specialized programs and localized services offered at various locations throughout Massachusetts.  With several program offices throughout the Commonwealth, the individuals we serve are often able to remain within their own communities or close to home where there is an opportunity for interaction with family and friends.   Each of our offices provides similar services varying in size and scope as well as specialized programs, based on the needs of those they serve in their area.

All of us at Massachusetts MENTOR are united by our mission to ensure that each child or adult receives services in the least restrictive, most natural setting possible.  As a partner of The MENTOR Network we have access to shared resources, protocols and supports which help us to effectively achieve this mission.  Some of our many program supports include 24/7 back-up, consultation with medical experts on staff, and a national operations library that provides in-depth information on all programmatic and operational issues.  In addition, our quality assurance program is staffed at both the state and national level and provides information on proven practices and tools, as well as, an opportunity for staff throughout The Network to share best practices.  We also provide standard operations for our programs across the state including intake procedures, processes, policies, forms and systems which are continually reevaluated.                                                                                                                                              Little girl & birds
