Commitment to Caring Awards Honor Massachusetts MENTOR’s Finest

1 June 2013

Commitment-to-CaringMassachusetts MENTOR and REM Connecticut staff members were joined by members of The MENTOR Network’s leadership team to honor this year’s Commitment to Caring Award recipients at a luncheon April 23.  The Commitment to Caring Awards recognize people throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut—staff, Mentors and individuals we serve—who demonstrate an extraordinary spirit of caring.

This year’s winners from Massachusetts MENTOR were:

Mentors

  • Linda and Dan Massarelli
  • Dottie Mills
  • Christen St. George
  • Monique Carpentier
  • Nydia Rios
  • Julianne Galitsky
  • Christine Damiani

Program Service Coordinator

  • Bill Bouchard

Individual Served

  • Daniesha Tobey-Richards

Paul Cataldo, Executive Director of Massachusetts MENTOR, opened the ceremony and addressed the winners a week after the tragic Boston Marathon bombings had shaken the community and the country.  Calling them everyday responders, he said, “You are there every day no matter how strong the challenge, no matter what pain or tragedy an individual has been through, no matter how exhausted you are, no matter how hard the child in your arms cries, no matter how afraid you are for their safety.  You are there EVERY day.  And for that, we thank you and we salute you.  And today we honor you.”

Nominators presented the awards to the winners and shared stories of incredible acts of selflessness, kindness and dedication that highlighted each recipient’s extraordinary capacity to care for others.
