Family Preservation

We believe children belong in the family home whenever it is safe and possible.  That’s why we offer family preservation services.  Our goal is to help families at risk overcome the challenges they face together.

Family Centered Treatment®

Massachusetts MENTOR provides Family Centered Treatment® (FCT©) to help keep families together.  FCT is a best practice, evidence-based model of in-home treatment. The personalized model was developed in part by clinicians on our team. FCT is designed to treat the entire family—not just the child. We work with the child, parents, siblings and members of the extended family who are involved in the child’s circle of support. By helping the entire family make positive changes, we are able to produce meaningful, lasting outcomes.

Working closely with families in their homes, we use FCT to help them learn and adopt positive behavioral patterns.  Our diverse, multilingual specialists can serve families from a range of backgrounds who may be facing:

  • Out-of-home placements or reunification
  • Trauma from substance abuse and domestic violence
  • Involvement with the juvenile justice system

The treatment process is designed to promote lasting, meaningful outcomes. A 2011 study of data collected over a five-year period showed that 90% of the families who completed treatment stayed together.
